I can’t believe how cool I think it looks. This rumor of a full size Ram-based SUC has actually been perpetuated a lot over the years, ever since Ram completely changed the way it looks and sort of sent a jolt through the industry. I’m surprised Chrysler never pulled the trigger over years, especially back when body-on-frame SUV’s were still very popular. And no, the Mexican version doesn’t count, because ‘Merica.

This might be my favorite sentence of the year.

I never realized how much I wanted a Ram SUV. So 8.4l V10, Hellcat, or the 6.7l Cummins with 900lb-ft in this?

Think they could fight with the Suburban/Tahoe group? I think so.

All three!

That would be the target, but Ford and Toyota aren’t having much luck, which is what makes this an unlikely path for Ram.

Really? If you take out the fleet/feds, I think I see a comparable number of sequoias on the road

I think if they have it about 25% more Durango styling it would be a winner.

In 2000, they would have sold every one they could build. It may something about how screwed up DaimlerChrysler was at the time that they would OK spending money on bespoke door handles for a $16,000 compact like the PT Cruiser rather than raid the Neon parts bin, but they wouldn’t approve the minimal development costs on such high margin product for what was one of the most lucrative segments in the market.

As far as three-row SUVs go, I’d rather have this:

I don’t know where you live, but it happens to be the exception rather than the rule.

The place I got the pic from (Allpar, obviously) pointed out that GM sold 254,578 full-size body-on-frame SUV’s in 2014, while Ford sold 55,065 and Toyota sold 11,806.
Perhaps you live near the Sequoia factory? (Honest question)

That’s what they used to have in Mexico, more recently than we’ve had in the US at least.

DC metro area. a lot of them are government vehicles, so I think that shifts people away from buying them, maybe? Don’t want to have just another suburban. Also, when I lived in the Midwest there was a lot more American cars on the road as a percentage of the whole as compared to the east coast, so that could explain seeing more sequoias. But they’re common enough that I see a few everyday, and not just the same ones over and over.

That makes sense. Don’t want to look like the fed.
